Jacqueline Bermudez is a Miami-based self-taught portrait artist. She was born in Orlando, FL and lived her childhood in Caracas, Venezuela. As a child, her mother enrolled her in ballet, art classes as well as often visiting museums and classical music performances. She has always been surrounded by culture in some form. It wasn’t until 1997, her senior year of high school, when she discovered her passion for creating art. After high school she took a very long hiatus as she worked in the corporate world and raised her two daughters. In 2016, during a period of great changes in her life, she decided to open her old box of art supplies, and this is where her path as an artist began. She learned she loved to paint portraits using oil paints. Today, her connection to her art practice is spiritual and introspective. After years of self discovery, growth and many changes, she uses her art as a tool to explore humanity and the shared experience of growth. She uses bold colors, plants and animals as symbolism for the human experience of growth, healing and learning about ourselves.
